Rear doors have a wider opening, which makes it easier to put in a childā€™s car seat. The Altima is convenient in another way with a larger fuel tank that holds 16.2 gallons compared to 14.5 gallons for the Toyota. Another difference is seen in the top trims of the two models with cargo net and tie downs standard for the Altima while only the cargo net is available with the Camry.

Technology

Both the Altima and Camry stay up to date on modern technology, but the Altima gives drivers a little extra. Both feature an infotainment system with touchscreen, but the Altimaā€™s is a little larger with an eight-inch display over the seven-inch version for the Camry. While the Camry makes it easy to connect your iPhone with Apple CarPlay, the Altima includes Android owners with Android Auto. Satellite radio is standard on the Altima along with push button start. While the Camry has both features, they are upgrades at an additional charge. Voice command is standard on the top trim level for the Altima while itā€™s an available option for the top trim of the Camry.

Performance

Both the Toyota and Nissan models are designed for practical comfort and a smooth ride. While the Camry includes a larger engine option, only the Altima offers all-wheel drive to keep you on the road in all kinds of weather. If you like the confidence that comes from driving an all-wheel drive model, the Altima wins hands-down. Even though the Altima only offers four-cylinder engine options, but it has the power of a V6 with 248 horsepower and 280 lb.-ft. of torque. Enhancing performance is a lighter curb weight for the top trim Altima by almost 200 pounds at 3416 lbs. as compared to 3644 lbs. with the Camry.

Premium Comfort

Not only does the Altima provide more room for cargo, it leaves plenty of space for passengers. Front legroom for the Nissan model is at 44.1 inches compared to 42.1 inches with the Camry. Front headroom is 39.2 inches whereas the Camry is at 38.3 inches.
