Premier Nissan Of San Jose ā€“ 2021.5 GTR

How do you improve on the most desirable performance super sports car on the market? Well, if you are the masterminds at Nissan, you create a special limited trim on the GT-R NISMO and call it the 2021.5 Special Edition model. The first of these unique vehicles are expected to arrive in the United States in the fall and begin winning or breaking hearts, depending on your perspective as the driver/winner or the person who comes in second place.

The Artistic Flair On The Exterior

You can't miss the Stealth Gray paint job that will do anything but fly under the radar. The color is basic yet bold. It's not a flashy color, but you know that what is under the hood will make all the bold statements that the GT-R needs to make. The 2021.5 will come with some exclusive RAYS-sourced 20-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels with red accents. This splash of racing red also wraps along the ground effects to add just a touch of excitement. Covering the ultra-impressive power plant is a carbon fiber weave hood that sports a surprising clear coat. The look is anything but subdued. But the 2021.5 can definitely pull it off.

Artistry Under The Hood

While the fresh new paint scheme is eye-catching, the real work of art is under the hood. Each engine gracing a 2021.5 is hand-built in a special cleanroom by master technicians known as Takumi. Think of the skillfully assembled engines that are lowered into cars that will grace some of the greatest racetracks in the world, like Nurburgring, Monaco, and Hockenheimring. That is what is going into each GT-R 2021.5. The final step is adding the special certification plate on each engine that includes the master technician's autograph.

The Sticker

The limited number will certainly fetch top dollar for this limited edition. The estimates are all well over $200k, but the actual price is being held close to the vest at this point. Knowing that the 2021 GT-R NISMO is coming in at $212,535, the .5 edition is projected to well exceed that number. But when you want the best, you need to be willing to part with a few bucks.

Making Peace With A Number In That Gray Area

Justifying a quarter of a million dollars for a 2021.5 could be a bit challenging. But when you know these cars and what they are capable of, the price becomes more understandable. With 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque, the GT-R Limited Edition is clearly ready to take on the world. And when you factor in the high-precision, weight-balanced parts for the piston rings, connecting rods, crankshaft, and valve gear components dialed in with tighter tolerances, the price actually seems reasonable.

The 2021.5 has, in every way, been improved to earn the title of limited edition, making the perfect car even better. To learn more about taking the 2021.5 home to San Jose or Milpitas, visit Premier Nissan of San Jose.
